
‘July Uprising Day’ observed at Bangladesh Embassy in Washington

The Bangladesh Embassy in Washington D.C. observed “July Uprising Day on Tuesday with due solemnity and respect, in remembrance of all the martyrs who laid down their lives during the July 2024 mass uprising.
The program began with the rendition of the national anthem. A minute of silence was observed to honour the martyrs who sacrificed their lives to end fascist rule, restore democracy in Bangladesh, and bring qualitative change in the social and state structures while eliminating inequality.
All embassy officials and staff members were present at the event.
Later, messages from the President and the Chief Adviser were read out by Ataur Rahman, First Secretary (Political-2) and Ms. Nazneen Sultana, First Secretary (Political-1).
Following this, two documentaries on the July Uprising were screened. These documentaries highlighted the oppression under fascist rule and also countered misinformation regarding alleged minority persecution in the post-uprising period by presenting accurate facts.
On the occasion of July Uprising Day, Acting Ambassador D. M. Salah Uddin Mahmud paid tributes to all martyrs of the uprising and urged everyone to contribute toward building an equal, corruption-free, and prosperous Bangladesh.
The day's program concluded with a special prayer for the departed souls of the martyrs.
The event was conducted by Md. Arifur Rahman, Minister and Head of Chancery.
