Final preparations are underway for a spectacular drone show to light up the night sky of capital Dhaka on Pahela Baishakh (April 14), the Bengali New Year - a decidedly new touch to the celebrations this year in post-Uprising Bangladesh, as official programmes rarely stretched past sunset. The country is set to usher in the year 1432 in the Bengali calendar on Monday. Demonstrating the arrangements, a trial run of the drone show was held on Saturday night in front of the National Parliament Building at Manik Mia Avenue, drawing the attention of the netizens for showcasing unique combination of technology and live music - most of which are planned for the festive occasion. The main drone show will take place at the same location on Monday from 3pm and will be open to the public.
Sharing photos of the trial on Facebook, Shafiqul Alam, Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser of the Interim Government, wrote, “Photos from today's trial run of the Drone Show due to be held on the Bengali New Year on April 14. Ministry of Cultural Affairs is holding the show with full support from the Chinese Embassy in Dhaka.”
Cultural Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki also invited the public through social media, posting, “Images from the dry run of the drone show today! It's just a glimpse of the entire show.
