Kishoreganj Correspondent

The hanging body of a police officer named Aminul Islam (30) was recovered from a rented house in the Newtown area of Kishoreganj town.

He had been living as a tenant in the house of Shariful Islam in the Newtown area. Police recovered the body around 12:00 midnight on Monday.

Aminul Islam was the son of Abdul Hamid from the village of Ganganagar in Madan upazila of Netrokona district. He had been serving in the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) in Kishoreganj for the past four years.

Aminul's brother-in-law, Yasin Mia, said that Aminul last spoke with his mother and wife on Monday afternoon. After that, his mobile phone was found switched off. When family members informed the house owner, he noticed the door was closed. Despite knocking several times, there was no response. The house owner then informed the family. Upon receiving the information, police arrived at the scene, broke open the door, and recovered Aminul’s body in a hanging state.

Yasin Mia added that Aminul lived in that house with his wife and child. However, during Eid, his wife and child had gone home, and Aminul was staying alone.

It was reported that he returned on April 5 after spending the Eid holidays with his family. He was on duty on April 6 but had no duty on April 7, and the incident occurred that night. The reason behind the incident remains unknown.

Superintendent of Police of the Kishoreganj PBI  Mizanur Rahman, said that police recovered the body at night. It has been sent to Shaheed Syed Nazrul Islam Medical College Hospital for autopsy. Legal steps will be taken based on the investigation.
