BFUJ President Obaidur Rahman Shahin says : Those who behave in fascist-dictatorship manner will have same fate as Hasina

 Mahidul Islam Ripon,  Dinajpur

Obaidur Rahman Shahin, Acting President of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ), has said that whoever comes to power in the future and behaves in a fascist and autocratic manner will face the same fate as Sheikh Hasina.

He made these remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion titled 'The Role of Journalists in the July Student-Popular Uprising' and a felicitation ceremony for the martyred families of Dinajpur at the Press Club auditorium on Saturday.

He said, for the last 15 and a half years, political leaders have been hanging on the gallows. For 15 and a half years, journalists could not stay out of the movement. For 15 years, no BNP-supporting newspaper received any supplement. But this time, all newspapers received supplement.

He called on political parties, as well as journalist organizations, to come forward to protect journalists.

Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) Assistant Secretary General Dr. Sadequl Islam Swapan, Office Secretary Abu Bakar, and Dhaka Union of Journalists General Secretary Khurshid Alam spoke as special guests at the event.

At that time, Khurshid Alam said, 66 journalists have lost their lives in the last 16 years. The last one was Asaduzzaman Shahin in Gazipur. He said, as long as journalists support the leaders of political parties, it is good. But when they spread news against their corruption, they become enemies. Journalists are no one's friends.

Other speakers said, "We have forgotten the corruption of the fascist Awami League of the last 16 years. Political leaders must mingle with the common people. You must not give shelter to the divisive creators under any circumstances."

The speakers also said that the original spirit of the July Revolution must be maintained. The divisions among everyone, including journalists, must be resolved.

The profession whose contribution to the world is undeniable is journalism. Journalists have given the most lives among unarmed people. Journalists are giving their lives because the murderers are not brought to justice. As long as there is tyranny, journalists will be active. The Sahar-Runi case has been postponed many times, recorded all over the world.

Dinajpur District BNP President Mofazzal Hossain Dulal, Vice President Mozaharul Islam, Dinajpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry Vice President Shamim Kabir, City Jamaat Ameer Sirajus Salehin, Islami Chhatra Shibir Dinajpur City Branch President Moshfiqur Rahman, NCP Workers Wing Central Committee Member Rezaul Islam, former coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement Ekramul Haque Abir and Shaheed Rabiul Islam Rahul's father Muslem Uddin spoke as guests of honor.

At the end of the discussion, a memento was presented to Muslim Uddin, father of Shaheed Rabiul Islam Rahul, in Dinajpur. In addition, mementos were presented to the guests present at the event.
