An armed attack has allegedly done on a woman's family in Mirsarai, Chittagong, over a dispute with house and land.
least three people were seriously injured in the attack. Victim Chakina Begum made the allegation at a press conference at Mecca Hotel in Baratakia Bazar on Tuesday.
Chakina said that on Monday morning, a woman wearing a burqa came to the door asking for water. When she went to give him water, 20-30 armed men with the woman suddenly entered the house and attacked.
Immediately after the incident, three policemen from Mirsarai police station arrived at the scene after a call was made to the national emergency service 999. When the situation could not be brought under control, additional police arrived and dispersed the attackers with batons.
Chakina alleged that the attack was led by the burqa-clad woman Khaleda Begum. She has been in a dispute with her over land for a long time. A case is also pending in the court regarding this (No. 236/2023). She claimed that Khaleda Begum carried out the attack in a planned manner using hired men, fearing defeat in the case.
Chhakina's husband Nazrul Islam was seriously injured in the attack. He is currently undergoing treatment at Chittagong Medical College Hospital. Chhakina and her daughter Nasrin Akhter Tamanna were injured.
On the other hand, denying the allegations, Khaleda Begum said, "I bought that land in 2007 and built a house. Later, I rented it to Chakina Begum. Now she is not leaving the house, but is threatening to kill us." Khaleda claimed that the municipal court had ruled in her favor, yet the opponent attacked them instead.
