2 die in lorry-autorickshaw collision in Sirajganj

Two people died and others injured in a head-on collision between a lorry and an autorickshaw in Ullapara, Sirajganj on Thursday.The accident occurred around 3:45 pm on the Bogura-Nagarbari Highway, at the East Deluya Bridge in the Ullapara Upazila of Sirajganj, Officer-in-Charge Abdur Rouf of the Hatkumrul Highway Police Station.The deceased were identified as Shariful Islam (35), the autorickshaw driver and son of the late Abdul Aziz of the Panchlia Alokdia village in Ullapara, and Abdul Momin (35), a passenger and son of Sanowar Hossain from the Dubdanga village of the same Upazila. Abdur Rouf,The accident happened when the autorickshaw, on its way from Hatkumrul to Ullapara, collided head-on with the tank lorry coming from the opposite direction after reaching the East Deluya Bridge.As a result, both the autorickshaw driver and the passenger died on the spot, the OC said.The injured were rescued and sent to the hospital. Upon receiving the information, the police went to the scene, recovered the bodies of the deceased, but since there were no complaints, the body of driver Shariful Islam was handed over to his family.The body of the deceased passenger has been kept in the police custody for autopsy, and the damaged tank lorry and autorickshaw have been kept at the police station. A case was filed regarding the matter, added the OC.
